Agropur is looking for a Plant Technology Support Specialist to join its Edmonton team.

The IT plant support is responsible for maintaining local IT operations at 100% availability and for preventing and minimizing the impact of interruptions caused by IT failures, as a member of the USA IT group. By diligently fulfilling these roles and responsibilities, the plant IT support will significantly contribute to the proper functioning of the plant's IT systems, ultimately supporting productivity and overall success.

What this role entails:

More specifically, the responsibilities of the Plant Technology Support Specialist include:

  • Build strong relationships with key plant stakeholders.
  • Communicate consistently and effectively with staff, providing updates on IT-related issues and changes.
  • Ensure clarity and timeliness in communications to minimize disruptions and maximize productivity.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to understand their technology needs and address their concerns.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees facing technical issues, provide immediate support, and perform troubleshooting.
  • Redirect office employees requiring Level 1 or Level 2 support to the help desk and collaborate with them for troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with team members to resolve issues efficiently by leveraging collective expertise.
  • Take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Prioritize production needs to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide support in various aspects of projects as needed, offering expertise and assistance to other departments.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting other plants during vacations or when additional help is required.
  • Be prepared to travel to support projects or initiatives at different sites.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of IDF/MDF rooms in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all new equipment using a designated team spreadsheet .

What you need to join our team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience as a Technical Advisor required.
  • Experience in a plant/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • A+, Network+, Security+ certifications required.
  • Results-driven and performance-oriented.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, in French and English, with leaders, managers, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to extract, analyze, and act on information with limited supervision.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and industry-specific software.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Promotes continuous improvement; embraces change and seeks better ways to perform work; strives for innovation.
