Equitable is looking for a co-op student ready to roll up their sleeves to help support the reporting and analytics needs for our data science team. You will be exposed to enterprise solutions that include data engineering, modeling and reporting.
This role is ideal for a highly organized person who enjoys analyzing complex problems, thinking about the "big picture," and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to bring ideas to life. Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

What you'll do:
- Support the underlying data models and make necessary data corrections
- Review, test and validate data science solutions
- Create and maintain technical documentation
What you'll bring:
- Practical knowledge of SQL (preferably T-SQL, e.g., Microsoft SQL Server) and Python
- Understanding of statistics and machine learning theory
- Experience with version control and DevOps tools
- Experience with a BI/dashboard tool (e.g., Power BI)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive, and strong communication skills
- Experience in or knowledge of the insurance or financial industry would be a major asset
