Wildland Firefighter

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Malachite Forestry Ltd. Full time

Malachite is looking for multiple applicants to fill wildland firefighting roles in Summer 2026. Roles include Strike Team Leader, Crew Leader, and Crew Member in Type 2, Type 3, and Structural Protection Crews.

Basic training for required certifications will be provided free of charge (~$350 value) at Mandatory April Bootcamp in Edmonton.

While Malachite is based in Edmonton and will be holding bootcamp at our facilities, work will take place in BC. Our firebase is in Dawson Creek, BC and we will be working with BC Wildfire.

Work Description:

  • Working in a wilderness setting
  • Living in camps (tents) on 14-day deployments
  • Hard labour and long hours
  • Good pay with overtime ($20 to $35+ per hour)
  • Team work with crew members
  • Fire mop-up

Short-listed applicants will be sent a detailed video with further information on what the work and the season entails.

Requirements:

  • Mentally and physically strong (fitness test will be required)
  • Great team player
  • Willing to go for 14-day deployments
  • Must be able to attend April bootcamp in Edmonton
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to deployments in BC

Previous firefighting experience is not required for entry level roles

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal

Pay: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
