About the Opportunity

SteS is looking for
a full-time
Housing Manager
based in
Chase, BC.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Administration, you will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering a comprehensive housing and property management program, with accountability for operations, staff leadership, policy compliance, financial oversight, and long-term housing development that supports the community and aligns with Band Council direction.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the Housing Department, overseeing Band-owned and rental housing, coordinating housing projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting tenants and homeowners across the community.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading and supervising housing staff, including scheduling, training, performance management, and workplace safety
  • Overseeing housing programs across new construction, renovations, maintenance, and inspections
  • Managing housing-related projects, tenders, records, and coordination with internal departments and external partners
  • Developing, implementing, and communicating housing policies, including tenant and elder housing policies
  • Preparing and managing budgets, forecasts, funding applications, and required reporting
  • Overseeing tenant relations, including screening, leases, rent collection, conflict resolution, and evictions when required
  • Ensuring compliance with building codes, health and safety standards, and internal governance policies
  • Responding to community housing inquiries and supporting mortgage and housing program applications

About You

To qualify, you will need
a post-secondary degree or diploma in Property Management, Business Administration, Construction
, or a related field, along with
5+ years of progressive experience in housing or property management
, including
2+ years in a supervisory or management role
.
A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

The following are
required:

  • Ability to undergo
    a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
    and
    access to a reliable vehicle
  • Willingness and ability to
    travel occasionally for training, meetings, and housing-related activities

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience managing residential housing programs, including rentals, private homes, and elder housing
  • Knowledge of national and provincial building codes related to residential construction and renovations
  • Background in property maintenance and coordinating contractors, vendors, and inspectors
  • Financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure tracking
  • Experience preparing reports, project documentation, and funding or grant applications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and comfort working with digital records and systems
  • Understanding of Indigenous governance, community dynamics, and culturally respectful service delivery
  • Certification as a Certified Apartment Manager or Housing Manager (asset)
