Responsibilities:

Contingency Planning

  • Develop and maintain enterprise contingency plans covering a broad spectrum of potential operational disruptions.
  • Partner with SOC, Airports, Flight Operations, and Corporate Security to ensure alignment and readiness across the organization.
  • Lead after-action reviews to identify learnings and integrate continuous improvement into future planning.

Business Continuity Management

  • Maintain Air Canada's enterprise Business Continuity Plan (BCP), ensuring departmental ownership, regular testing, and executive reporting.
  • Facilitate continuity planning workshops and scenario simulations to validate resilience strategies.
  • Responsible to ensure continuity frameworks comply with regulatory and internal governance requirements.

Incident Response

  • Serve as a key member of the Operations Response Team during significant disruptions.
  • Lead communication, decision-tracking, and recovery actions across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the Senior Director and Executive Operations leadership in crisis escalation, reporting, and stakeholder alignment.

Governance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish governance and documentation standards for all continuity and contingency plans.
  • Track and report program maturity, readiness metrics, and audit outcomes.
  • Build strong partnerships across Operations, Corporate Security, IT, and Corporate Affairs to ensure enterprise-wide preparedness.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Emergency Management, Operations, or related field (advanced certification such as CBCP, ISO 22301 preferred).
  • 5–8 years of experience in business continuity, emergency planning, or operations control in an aviation or complex operational environment.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, and crisis management skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information rapidly and provide structured recommendations in time-sensitive environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across executive and front-line teams.

Conditions of Employment:

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country of interest, at the time any offer of employment is made and seeking any required work permits/visas or other authorizations which may be required is the sole responsibility of the candidates applying for this position.

Linguistic Requirements

Based on equal qualifications, preference will be given to bilingual candidates.
