The opportunity
We are currently hiring Field Adjusters to join our Property Field Claims team. This role will be home based, and we are looking for adjusters in the GTA and Calgary/Red Deer/Edmonton area.
What you'll do
Completes on site and/or virtual inspections of commercial claims
Investigate and negotiate various Commercial Property Claims in accordance with Aviva's claim procedures and guidelines.
Reconcile and validate vendor estimates to ensure price and scope is appropriate
Investigate by meeting with insureds, third parties, witnesses and lawyers in or order to obtain facts and information.
Review facts, policy, technical reports, fire marshall reports, case law, and make decisions on coverage, value of the claim and negotiate/settle the claim accordingly
Stand as an expert and provide in-depth commercial claims guidance/advice to customers, peers and other stakeholders
Responsible for data accuracy and the issuance of payments to vendors, insureds and experts.
Responsible for reviewing lease agreements to assess the insured's contractual obligations and determine their interest in damages and repairs
Effectively advise and counsel customers on claim status, provide prompt and exemplary customer service and while keeping related parties informed of the claims status.
Responsible to ensure all correspondence is completed in a time efficient/effective manner including the creation of Critical Path, Proof of Loss and reservation of rights letters etc.
Responsible for recognizing questionable claims, subrogation and risk opportunities.
Correspond with third parties, lawyers, insureds, brokers, underwriting team and individuals or companies who have an interest in the claim settlement.
What you'll bring
2+ years experience as a Field adjuster handling Commercial lines claims
Minimum of 1 Year experience handling first-party commercial claims including but limited to building owner/tenant, business income, stock, cargo, builder's risk, crime and equipment claims for a wide variety of industries
A customer focused mindset with a strong commitment to delivering timely, fair, and professional claims service.
CIP or FCIP and other industry designations preferred. Must be willing to pursue CIP for provincial licensing.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support customer demand
High level of comfort dealing directly with key commercial clients and brokers on all claim related issues and other assistance as required
Computer proficiency; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Guidewire
High level of prioritization and organization skills
Think critically and coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure you receive the best outcomes.
You are hardworking and a self-motivated problem-solver
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Assist and support during high volume catastrophes as needed (Evenings and Weekends)
Strong background in Property Insurance
Good PC skills and adaptable using new technology
Valid drivers license
