Job Overview

The Host/Hostess at Pur & Simple is the first point of contact for our guests. This role is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming, and organized front-of-house experience. The host/hostess manages the flow of guests, coordinates seating, and supports a smooth service environment while maintaining Pur & Simple's standards for hospitality and efficiency.

Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience

  • Greet all guests promptly with a friendly, positive attitude.
  • Provide menus, answer basic questions about the restaurant, and ensure guests feel welcome.
  • Manage the waitlist when required and provide accurate wait-time estimates.
  • Escort guests to their tables and ensure they are comfortably seated.

Service Coordination

  • Maintain an organized seating chart to support balanced server sections.
  • Communicate table statuses clearly with servers, bussers, and management.
  • Assist with phone calls, including reservations, inquiries, and takeout orders (if applicable).
  • Monitor restaurant flow and adjust seating strategy during busy periods.

Cleanliness & Presentation

  • Keep the host stand area tidy, stocked, and organized at all times.
  • Assist in keeping entrance areas clean and welcoming.
  • Help with resetting tables when needed to support smooth service turnover.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work closely with servers, kitchen staff, and managers to ensure efficient operations.
  • Communicate guest needs, special requests, or concerns promptly to the appropriate team members.
  • Support the front-of-house team with additional tasks during peak hours.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and stay calm during high-volume periods.
  • Previous experience in a restaurant or customer service role (an asset but not required).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Availability for mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
