ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Associate Manager, Data Center Operations, you'll be at the forefront of our mining operation, ensuring that our critical infrastructure is running 24/7. You'll be working directly with the Manager, Data Center Operations, overseeing all routine and preventive maintenance activities, building and training a team of technicians, and using your expertise to keep our equipment running at peak efficiency. From new generation computers to sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems, you'll be working with some of the most advanced equipment the field has to offer. Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:

  • Help the Manager, Data Center Operations manage all aspects of the operations, including personnel, equipment, and infrastructure
  • Mentor, train, and develop technicians and specialists so that they can support daily operations with minimal supervision
  • Manage and facilitate purchasing and inventory control across all data center assets and equipment
  • Effectively identify and resolve time sensitive issues under pressure
  • Create, manage, and execute on preventative maintenance plans for data center equipment
  • Manage and continually develop critical vendor and contractor relationships
  • Spearhead fixes and improvements with other departments such as IT, HR, Networking, and Software
  • Promote and maintain a culture centered around merit-based recognition and rewards
  • Promote safety, security and compliance in all aspects of data center operations
  • Due to the nature of the 24/7 operations of the data center, this role will sometimes require work outside of normal business hours, including on-call responsibilities on some occasions. 

ABOUT YOU

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a critical infrastructure environment (related military experience would be considered)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent certificates from a technical school/program a plus
  • Understanding of office programs and computer hardware
  • Experience with commercial mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience with PLC configurations and functions preferred
  • Experience working with commercial HVAC systems preferred
  • Experience with IT related infrastructure maintenance is desired, but can be acquired
  • Forklift License preferred
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry preferred
  • Must pass a motor vehicle check
  • Must have own reliable transportation to get to and from the designated work site location
  • Ability to work as a member of a fast-paced, collaborative, and high-performing team is paramount to this role – your success in this role will not just come from how hard you work as an individual, but how strong of a team you help create across the facility
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail
  • You are intellectually curious and enjoy training others around you when you learn something new.
  • Thrive in an environment that forces you to get your hands dirty while also spending time behind the computer documenting your findings and communicating effectively across written and verbal mediums
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. on occasion and can spend extended periods of time on your feet
  • Must live within a 1 hour commute from the designated work site location

ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role is onsite at one of our various data center locations in Drumheller, Canada. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  ~ $75K CAD base salary.
