Residential & Commercial Painter Apprenticeship Readiness Program – Free Training + Paid Work Placement

FTI Ontario is excited to offer Training the Future Workforce, a Residential & Commercial (Trade Code 404C) Apprenticeship Readiness Program designed to prepare you for success in the trade.
You'll receive hands-on training, industry certifications, and the opportunity to begin a rewarding career in the finishing trades.
Program Details:
6 Weeks of In-Class Training (Unpaid)
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Led by experienced, certified instructors
- Tools, equipment, and PPE provided
12 Weeks of Paid Work Placement (paid)
What You'll Learn:
The program delivers a crash course in job readiness and trade fundamentals, including:
- Health & Safety
- Trade Basics
- Foundational Trade Knowledge
- Hands-On Preparation
Eligibility Requirements
A valid driver's license is highly recommended, as it greatly improves scheduling flexibility and increases opportunities for placement across multiple job sites.
To apply, you must:
- Be 18 years or older (or have parental/guardian consent if under 18)
- Submit a current resume via our website
- Be eligible to begin an apprenticeship (see our website and see following)
In order to become an apprentice:
- Have government-issued photo ID
- A permanent SIN, S.I.N beginning with 9 can not be processed.
- Provide proof of a Canadian high school diploma or Canadian high school transcript showing at least 16 credits, including Grade 10 Math, English, and Science
