The Company:

Our client is a leading food manufacturer supplying some of the largest Retail Grocery, and Restaurant / Food Service Distributors with innovative, high-quality food products.

The Opportunity:

This role is for someone who loves to work in a fast paced, Just In Time (JIT), Production / Manufacturing environment, in a Supply Chain Planning / Buyer capacity.This role will optimize the best cost sourcing and planning practices to ensure production schedules are on budget and on-time.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead Production Supply Planning and Replenishment to match Production Schedule needs
  • Negotiate Supply Contracts for materials and services
  • Prepare Supply Contracts and Purchase Orders
  • Accountable for managing annual buys for Ingredients and Packaging
  • Work with the Sales and Operations teams at both facilities to ensure the planned supplies for the short- and long-term schedule
  • ERP – Data Management, quota applications/ reconciliations
  • Negotiate Transportation and freight with certain suppliers
  • Assist with Warehouse and Freight invoice validation
  • Identify and implement Cost Saving Opportunities
  • Execute RFP's and Benchmarking exercises in all purchasing categories as required
  • Ensure that all products are delivered in accordance with company specifications
  • Cross training of others in your department
  • Demonstrate Servant Leadership
  • Accountable for seeking continuous improvement to our programs and procedures
  • Accountable for ensuring there is coverage for planned and unplanned absences which could compromise our policies, procedures, and programs

Key Qualifications & Competencies:

  • University OR College education with 2+ years Supply Chain Planning AND/OR Buying / Procurement experience
  • Food Manufacturing, Packaging or Ingredients industry preferred
  • SCMP certification an asset
  • Understanding of product costing
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent computer skills
