Our newly built Event Barn is a growing wedding & event venue and agri-tourism business. We are looking for a highly capable, self-driven General Manager to run the business independently, oversee daily operations, grow sales, manage events, and lead marketing efforts.
This role is ideal for someone who wants full ownership of day-to-day operations while reporting directly to ownership once per month.
Key Responsibilities (This is a hands-on, full-scope role):Operations & Management
- Run all daily business operations independently
- Oversee venue readiness, scheduling, staffing, vendors, and logistics
- Ensure smooth execution of weddings, events, and farm-related activities
- Create and manage systems, checklists, and workflows
- Solve problems proactively without constant supervision
Event Sales & Coordination
- Handle all client inquiries and bookings
- Coordinate weddings and events from inquiry to execution
- Work with vendors (catering, décor, DJ, officiants, rentals, etc.)
- Ensure client satisfaction and repeat/referral business
Marketing & Growth
- Manage and grow Facebook, Instagram, and online presence
- Create and post regular content (reels, posts, stories, ads)
- Respond to messages, comments, and leads promptly
- Develop promotions, packages, and seasonal campaigns
- Grow brand awareness and booking volume
Financial & Reporting
- Track bookings, revenues, expenses, and commissions
- Prepare monthly summary report for ownership
- Assist with pricing strategies and upsell opportunities
Reporting Structure
- You will run the business independently
- Report to ownership once per month with:
- Sales & bookings summary
- Marketing performance
- Operational updates
- Issues & recommendations
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- Proven experience in event venues, hospitality, weddings, or operations management
- Strong sales, marketing, and social media skills
- Highly organized, responsible, and trustworthy
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Comfortable managing vendors, clients, and staff
- Results-driven mindset (bookings & revenue growth)
Compensation
- Base Salary (competitive, based on experience)
- Commission on sales/bookings
- Performance-based growth opportunities
- Preferred candidates: Living in Peterborough, Oshawa, or surrounding areas
