Your Opportunity
An opportunity exists for a Financial Analyst with strong multi-tasking, interpersonal and organizational skills. As a key member of the Financial Services team and business partner with North America Export, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting related to Stantec's branch offices. You will work closely with in-country accounting contacts and North America Export operations and finance leadership. This is a permanent position based in the Edmonton, AB office.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews of weekly and monthly bank statements to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with internal standards.
- Prepare and upload monthly journal entries for branch office financials, maintaining detailed and accurate records.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial statements and identify discrepancies.
- Manage the preparation and submission of various in-country tax filings, adhering to local regulatory requirements. Collaborate with in-country tax professionals to ensure timely and accurate tax filings.
- Review and prepare Oracle entries related to in-country cash receipts to ensure data integrity and timely processing. Liaise with the North America Cash Application team to ensure timely and appropriate coding of repatriated accounts receivable receipts.
- Prepare month end accounts receivable reserve and applied interest journal entries.
- Assist in the 5-day period end close process by promptly identifying and correcting issues.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures in all financial reporting and operations.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Effective communication skills, including written and oral English language competency.
- Detail oriented individual with high degree of accuracy in analyzing contracts, data and financial reporting.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities and firm deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- A proactive and responsive customer service approach.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, demonstrating initiative and assertiveness.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while remote.
- Experience with Oracle and BlackLine would be considered an asset
Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree or diploma in accounting
- Minimum of two (2) years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
