ROLE: People & Culture Generalist

REPORTS TO: People & Culture Manager

LOCATION: Saskatoon, SK

We are looking for an People & Culture Generalist to join our HR Team As our HR Generalist, you will be a key point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance and support across various HR functions. You will assist in driving the implementation of HR policies and practices, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and contributing to a positive employee experience. This role requires a proactive, customer-oriented approach to addressing employee queries while fostering a productive and supportive work environment.

We are seeking an experienced People & Culture Generalist to join our dynamic bulk transportation division. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of human resources for operations across two provinces, providing strategic and hands-on support in areas such as employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and compliance. Knowledge & skills

  • You have strong knowledge and understanding of Saskatchewan and Manitoba Employment standards

  • You have a good understanding of the various HR functions i.e. Hourly Recruitment

Experience

  • You have 3+ years of experience working in Human Resources 

  • You have 2+ years of union recruitment and grievance handling 

  • You have employee relations, safety, investigation, and corrective action experience

  • You have a Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or related discipline

  • You have experience working in a culturally diverse work environment 

Nice-to-Have 

  • You have, or are working towards your CPHR designation

  • You have experience working in the Transportation and/or an Agriculturally related Industry

  • Negotiations and arbitrations experience

  • Safety Program Development experience

things you will do… 

  • Ensure adherence to all laws and established HR policies and procedures

  • Manage all union and non-union related matters with key stakeholders

  • Support in the creation and training of company policies and training programs 

  • Champion activities related to recruitment, onboarding, training and retention

  • Lead various programs and actively participate in a related HR project work

  • Serve as an employee advocate and partner with the management team to unpack challenges and implement solutions

  • This position will require occasional travel for recruitment or training purposes

OTHER … 

  • You may on occasion work in the evening or on weekends for urgent HR matters

  • Be an active participant in the Health & Safety Committee 

  • Valid Driver's License
