HWN Energy Ltd. ("HWN", "we") is an oil and natural gas exploration and production company with operations focused in Central and Northern Alberta. We are actively growing, both through the development of our current asset base and through the acquisition of additional properties in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, with organic growth focused on our Alberta Montney asset that represents the largest privately held Montney position in the basin. Hawthorne Energy LLC operates in Canada through our wholly owned subsidiary HWN Energy, Ltd.

HWN Energy, Ltd. is currently seeking to fill the following position:

Job Title: Contract – Operated Joint Venture Accountant

Location: Calgary

Reports to: Manager, Operations Accounting

Reporting to the Manager, Operations Accounting and working closely with production accounting, this role requires an individual who can work independently and efficiently in a high-volume environment. This contract role is not a regular JV desk, but a broad scope problem solver focused on supporting reconciliation and cleanup of historic joint venture accounting disputes.

In-depth knowledge of oil and gas joint venture accounting and production allocation processes, internal and external communication skills along with good organization are critical for the success of this individual.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Operated Joint venture accounting for Alberta oil and gas properties, including the following:
  • EnergyLink dispute resolution
  • Collection of accounts receivable associated with joint interest billings
  • Review working interests (distribution percentage, billed, confirm with CS Land and Qbyte FMPrepare appropriate supporting documentation as required
  • Prepare amending journal entries as required
  • Reviewing third party processing invoices for correct rates against contracts and verifying throughput volumes
  • Ad hoc reporting and other duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must be proficient with EnergyLink, Qbyte FM, Petrinex and reading CS Land well abstracts
  • 7 years of experience dealing with various joint venture, CO&O and processing & gathering agreements
