Cashier PT

The Kootenay Co-op is looking for a Cashier to join our Front End team for 16-24 hours/ week. Our Cashiers are friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and have amazing memories for produce codes If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. This position requires evening & weekend availability.

SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Technical expertise and accuracy in all POS cash procedures

Technical expertise and accuracy in the use of Interac machines

Basic computer skills

Impeccable attendance & punctuality; ability to clock-in/out accurately

Knowledge of whole, natural, and organic foods and the impact consumer choices have on local farmers, producers, and communities

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to develop and maintain favorable relations with customers, staff, and vendors

Cooperative, respectful communication skills

Ability to approach problems with a positive attitude and have creative, constructive solutions on hand

Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner

Basic understanding of the cooperative movement and what makes us different

General product knowledge, such as location of items or categories within the store

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create a pleasant environment and consistently friendly interactions with customers

Develop and maintain speed and accuracy in all point of sale procedures

Conduct efficient and accurate cash float count and closing procedures

Keep apprised of personal accuracy trends

Keep cash counters and front area neat and clean

Assisting in other departments as time allows

Product knowledge - ingredients, uses, location in store, product information

Cleaning and sweeping throughout the store as required

Providing bagging and/or boxing or groceries as required

Comply with the policies and procedures set out in the Employee Policy Handbook and the Health & Safety Manual

Other duties and fill-in as required
