Badesha Law is a growing litigation firm serving clients across the Greater Toronto Area. We are committed to rigorous advocacy, clear communication, and efficient file management. To support continued growth, we seek a Criminal Defence Lawyer to manage a varied caseload with increasing autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice for bail hearings, judicial pre-trials, guilty pleas, trials, and sentencings.
  • Review and analyze disclosure; identify Charter and evidentiary issues; develop case strategy.
  • Conduct legal research and draft facta, Charter applications, affidavits, and submissions.
  • Negotiate with Crown counsel regarding resolutions, withdrawals, and alternative measures.
  • Manage files from intake to resolution, including client communication, deadlines, and billing.
  • Coordinate with investigators and expert witnesses as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with Law Society of Ontario and Legal Aid Ontario requirements.

Qualifications

  • LL.B./J.D. and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 3–5+ years of criminal defence experience preferred; exceptional new calls will be considered.
  • Demonstrated courtroom advocacy skills, including cross-examination and oral submissions.
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a high-volume practice.
  • Ability to appear across the GTA/Peel/York/Halton; a valid driver's licence is an asset.
  • Proficiency with practice management, e-filing, and virtual hearing platforms.
  • Additional languages (e.g., Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu) are considered an asset.
