Director, Community Relations – Volunteer

The Director of Community Relations is a volunteer staff member who is unpaid and is responsible for the management, leadership and operations of the community development and fundraising teams. With responsibility to fundraise no less than $78,000 annually through primarily corporate sponsorships.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Program Leader, Marketing and Communications – support, manage, and coordinate internal and external marketing efforts, including but not limited to:
  • The development and approval of copywriting for both internal and external marketing materials such as websites, newsletters, flyers, brochures etc.
  • Coordinate the co-design and delivery of the donor and stakeholder newsletter.
  • Work with communications to plan strategic reach outs, marketing engagements and the delivery of corporate sponsorship perks.

  • Oversee, coordinate and take accountability for the fundraising process, ensuring sufficient revenue to continue operations, including but not limited to.

  • Design and lead the long-term strategy to increase the annual revenue provided by corporate donors.
  • Manage all aspects of partnership and giving programs, including solicitations, applications, benefit delivery, major gifts, entertainment, and recognition.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, and close large financial gifts from foundations & corporate donors, and manage the donor database
  • Work with the Vice President and the CEO to identify and pursue major donors and prospects and engage them as appropriate in the donor cultivation and solicitation processes.

  • Development Department Leadership

  • Manage and lead a team of 5-10 volunteers, holding them accountable for their work
  • Ensure completion of administrative aspects of fundraising, project management, grants proposal and execution
  • Should be able to attend virtual team meetings as scheduled in the EST time zone.
  • Support the media and stakeholder relations aspects of the organization, working collaboratively with Government Relations, Communications, Issues Management, and the Executive Office
