Position Overview
The Warehouse Manager oversees the day-to-day execution of warehouse and logistics operations, ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of product across Micco's facilities. This role provides hands-on operational leadership, supporting workforce management, cost control, KPI tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining high standards for safety, service, and inventory accuracy. Working closely with the Director of Warehousing & Logistics and cross-functional partners in Finance, HR, and Operations, the Warehouse Manager supports the achievement of operational and financial targets and adapts to seasonal and operational demands as required.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Support annual budget development and ongoing financial management for warehouse operations, including monitoring labour costs, overtime, operating expenses, and supporting forecasting and variance analysis.
- Lead and support cost control and cost reduction initiatives by identifying efficiency opportunities while maintaining service, safety, and quality standards.
- Track, analyze, and report key financial and operational KPIs, including labour productivity, throughput, inventory accuracy, and service levels.
- Oversee daily warehouse and logistics operations, including receiving, storage, picking, shipping, transportation coordination, and dock activity.
- Ensure accurate inventory management through established control systems, cycle counts, space optimization, and damage or waste reduction practices.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and day-to-day management of warehouse staff, including coaching, performance management, and employee development.
- Partner with HR to support training compliance, performance improvement plans, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, security, and emergency procedures, promoting a strong culture of accountability and workplace safety.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), process improvements, and warehouse management technologies.
Qualifications & Essential Skills
- 5+ years of progressive experience in warehousing, logistics, or distribution operations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising, scheduling, training, and performance managing operational teams.
- Hands-on experience managing day-to-day warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, shipping, and inventory control.
- Experience supporting budgets and managing labour costs, overtime, and operating expenses.
- Proven experience tracking and using KPIs to monitor performance and drive operational improvements.
- Experience leading or participating in continuous improvement initiatives, such as process optimization, productivity improvements, or cost reduction efforts.
- Working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and operational reporting tools.
- Experience operating in a safety-focused environment, with responsibility for enforcing safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
Experience
5–7 years of progressive experience in warehousing, logistics, or distribution operations, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.
Education
Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Work Schedule
Occasional evening or weekend work required during peak periods.
Working Environment
- Fast-paced warehouse and logistics environment requiring a visible, hands-on presence and regular time spent on the warehouse floor.
- Role involves varying schedules, seasonal volume fluctuations, and the flexibility to support extended hours as operational demands require.
