The Opportunity:

We are currently searching for a senior accountant for our engineering clients team based in Calgary. This position offers valuable growth and experience in finance and accounting, with the opportunity to take ownership and initiative in developing this new role. The objective is to maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This role will work closely with accounting clerks in multiple locations and will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the accounting department.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Full-cycle accounting, including the month-end close process
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts and bank statements
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including processing depreciation entries
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure accurate project reporting and related month-end accruals
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements
  • Prepare weekly cash position statements and other financial reports as required
  • Update and maintain accounting policies and procedures
  • Provide back-up support to other team members

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • 8 years + of related experience in a full-cycle accounting role
  • Familiarity with project accounting, month-end and financial reporting required
  • Experience with CRA- GST Audits
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to multi-task effectively
  • Capable of setting priorities and managing time efficiently while maintaining accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • A sense of ownership over results and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Initiative, teamwork, innovative thinking, and strong problem-solving skills
