Kingston, Ontario, Canada Response I.T. Full time $50,000 - $80,000 per year

Position Overview:

The Structured Cabling Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems for our clients. Additionally, this role will include providing onsite technical support to ensure the smooth operation of their IT systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with cabling and network infrastructure, alongside a solid foundation in IT support and excellent problem-solving skills.

Structured Cabling:

· Perform onsite visits to install, maintain, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems.

· Conduct site surveys to determine cabling requirements and work with administrative staff to quote and complete new installations.

· Install and terminate various types of cables, including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and coaxial.

· Test and certify cabling installations to ensure optimal performance.

· Maintain accurate records of cabling layouts and infrastructure changes.

· Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure timely and successful project completion.

Onsite Technical Support:

· Provide first-level technical support to clients at their locations.

· Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.

· Assist with the setup and configuration of desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.

· Manage user accounts and permissions in various systems.

· Document all support activities, issues, and resolutions in the ticketing system.

· Escalate complex issues to higher-tier technicians or relevant departments as necessary.

· VALID Ontario driver's license with clean driving record is a hard requirement

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in Information Technology or related field a plus.

· Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in structured cabling installation and maintenance.

· Experience with IT support or a similar role is an asset.

· Experience with CCTV systems is an asset.

Technical Skills:

· Proficiency in Windows operating systems.

· Basic knowledge of networking principles and hardware.

· Familiarity with ticketing systems and support tools.

· Experience with cabling tools and equipment (e.g., crimpers, cable testers, punch-down tools).

Soft Skills:

· Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

· Comfortable working in various environments, including office settings, data centers, and construction sites.

· Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
