We are looking for a
Compliance Specialist
to join the team. This is a 1-year full-time contract, fully in-person based in London, ON.
As a Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for executing and enhancing the bank's compliance program, building robust systems for risk assessment, control testing, training, and compliance tracking. You will ensure that internal controls are not only well-designed but effectively tested and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations.
By proactively identifying risks, supporting remediation efforts, and fostering a culture of compliance across the organization, this position directly contributes to the bank's reputation, regulatory standing, and long-term stability.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement, and maintain systems for risk assessment, compliance tracking, training, and testing.
- Support the execution and ongoing management of the regulatory projects in alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regulatory gap analyses and ensure policies, procedures and controls are in place to meet regulatory compliance standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure regulatory expectations are understood and embedded in business practices.
- Design and execute testing protocols to evaluate the effectiveness of controls and compliance frameworks.
- Monitor and report on compliance risks, escalating issues as needed to senior leadership
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSFI, FCAC, CDIC and other relevant regulatory bodies' guidelines and expectations.
- Assist in preparing documentation and responses for regulatory examinations and audits
- Provide subject matter expertise on regulatory controls, risk management, and compliance testing methodologies.
- Contribute to the development of training materials and facilitate sessions to promote compliance awareness across the organization.
What we look for:
- Bachelor's degree in Law or relevant Regulatory Compliance certification in the financial field.
- 3–5 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of Canadian regulatory frameworks, including OSFI, FCAC, CDIC and other relevant bodies.
- Proven experience working with compliance controls, risk assessments, and testing protocols.
- Familiarity with internal controls, governance structures, and compliance monitoring systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations to business operations.
- Skilled in developing and delivering compliance training programs.
- Experience with compliance tracking tools and risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience with Resolver software is an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
