Come join us as a Vice President, Origination with our team based in Vancouver. This is an independent contractor role; your primary responsibility will be to originate commercial mortgages in the BC and or Alberta Markets. As an Originator, you will have exclusive access to the Gentai Capital Corporation funds. Your role will focus on advancing the Company as the leading provider of non-prime commercial mortgages by proactively selling and marketing Gentai's products. Your focus is on real-estate mortgage origination, building, and maintaining client relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage our network of key contacts/resources to source potential new business opportunities for Gentai's full range of commercial lending options.
  • Apply skill in financial analysis to determine lending options for our borrowers.
  • Develop needs-based solutions, present proposals and negotiate with borrowers to effectively satisfy their needs within Gentai objectives.
  • Work with teammates to complete mortgage presentations by assessing and preparing relevant market and borrower information through research and analysis.
  • Complete the closing of each deal through interaction with the borrowers and other funding resources.
  • Research and share information regarding market changes and competitive activity to build your knowledge base and better serve your clients.
  • Be responsible for the origination and negotiation of new mortgage loans for the various funds and investors represented by Gentai.
  • Be responsible for the loan opportunities handed over by EVP, Lending and President of Gentai, including but not limited to reach out to the borrowers, structuring the loan, negotiating the deal with the borrowers, presenting the offer to the borrowers and follow through the funding process to fund the loan.
  • Assist, as required, in the due diligence, documentation and closing of new mortgage loans and renewals. .

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in commercial mortgage lending at a mortgage investment corporation, equivalent or a major Financial Institution.
  • Postgraduate degree in one of the following disciplines: finance, economics, urban land development, accounting, or business administration
  • Mortgage broker license or obtain prior to starting the role.
  • Proven strong communicator with an ability to problem-solve, negotiate, and manage conflict.
  • Experienced in creating and delivering business presentations and public speaking.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset able to create flexible financing solutions for borrowers.
  • Demonstrated sound credit judgment.
  • Ability to provide alternate solutions based on product availability.
  • Possess the ability to understand financial statements.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas effectively to both individuals and groups.
  • Self-driven; highly motivated and able to take the initiative required to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Professional business acumen, strong work ethics, high degree of honesty and integrity.
  • Must be able to thrive in an extremely fast-paced, strong growth environment.
  • Strong relationship building and management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
