The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, Regina Correctional Centre, is seeking a highly-motivated Addictions Counselor to assist in the delivery of Addiction Programs.

Reporting to the Senior Addictions Counselor, your duties will include facilitating Cognitive Behavioural Addiction Programs in the Designated Substance Abuse Treatment Unit, completing addictions assessments and preparing inmate evaluations, individual counseling and preparing assessments for stakeholders, partners and the community. You will act as liaison with community resources and as a resource to the Correctional Centre as a whole.

Execution of these duties will depend on your communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues, inmates, community and other stakeholders within the correctional centre environment.

As the successful candidate you will require knowledge of addiction treatment and recovery principles and practices, methodologies of assessing and providing specialized treatment, as well as practical experience with Cognitive Behavioral programming.

Typically, the necessary skills and abilities for this position would come from a degree in Social Work, Psychology or related degree in the field of human services or a certificate in Chemical Dependency. Preference will be given to those with experience in facilitating programming and working within an institutional corrections environment.
