Job Title: Senior Data Analyst – Automotive BI & Analytics

Location: Canada

Experience: 10+ years

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst / BI Developer with deep expertise in Power BI and Tableau to support analytics and reporting initiatives across our automotive engineering and manufacturing programs. The ideal candidate will leverage strong technical and analytical skills to build scalable dashboards and insights that drive operational efficiency, quality improvement, and strategic decision-making within the automotive domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and visual analytics using Power BI and Tableau to monitor manufacturing operations, project progress, and supply chain metrics.
  • Partner with engineering, production, and project management teams to understand business KPIs and translate them into meaningful data models and visual insights.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from multiple data sources (ERP systems, SQL Server, Excel, CSV, PostgreSQL, etc.) for analysis and reporting.
  • Develop and optimize DAX measures, calculated fields, and data relationships to ensure accurate and high-performance reporting.
  • Implement real-time monitoring dashboards for manufacturing and project execution using scheduled data refresh and automation techniques.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and performance tracking of key automotive metrics — such as production timelines, defect rates, procurement status, and delivery performance.
  • Apply data blending, joins, hierarchies, and filters to produce consolidated reporting views for leadership and operations teams.
  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and manage access permissions to ensure secure data consumption across business units.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and business users to ensure data consistency, integrity, and alignment with corporate KPIs.
  • Continuously explore and introduce advanced analytics and predictive modeling capabilities using BI platforms (e.g., Tableau CRM / Einstein Discovery).

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, preferably within the automotive or manufacturing domain.
  • Strong proficiency in Power BI (Desktop, DAX, Service) and Tableau (Desktop, Server, Public).
  • Solid understanding of automotive data models — including production tracking, WBS (Work Breakdown Structures), and operational KPIs.
  • Hands-on expertise with SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Power Query for data manipulation and integration.
  • Experience in creating data-driven dashboards for project progress tracking, engineering deliverables, procurement performance, and quality metrics.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance dashboard performance and user experience.
  • Strong analytical and visualization skills with attention to detail and design aesthetics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PL-300: Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Prior experience with automotive digital transformation initiatives, project control systems, or manufacturing performance analytics.
  • Exposure to Tableau CRM (Einstein Analytics) or predictive analytics for production forecasting.
  • Knowledge of ETL tools such as Apache NiFi or similar platforms.

Tools & Technologies

  • BI Tools: Power BI, Tableau, Tableau CRM (Einstein Discovery)
  • Databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • ETL: Power Query, Apache NiFi
  • Languages: SQL, DAX
  • Others: Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office Suite

Soft Skills

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to connect data with operational realities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage with both technical and business teams.
  • Attention to data accuracy, performance, and quality.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and able to work in cross-functional automotive environments.
