Your new role

Hays has partnered with a leading Clinical Trial Organization in Ontario. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator to join their team on a contract. This successful candidate must be located in Ontario.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all necessary information to allow for processing of payroll (including timesheets, for part-time staff) is gathered, accurate and maintained.
  • Processes payroll including any retroactive pay, salary/wage increases, statutory holiday pay etc. in the manner required by our payroll providers.
  • Ensures completion of payroll/tax forms for new employees and employees with changed information and submits to appropriate agencies or payroll providers.
  • Tracks RRSP contributions and benefit calculations and makes appropriate submissions/payments.
  • Assist Director, Finance in researching payroll related questions and/or engage service providers globally as required.
  • Responds to employee payroll related inquiries.
  • In the event the payroll provider or system changes are anticipated/made and in conjunction with HR, be the lead on developing requirements, issuing the RFP and selecting the new vendor/system.
  • Process employee expenses and responds to inquiries.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Assist Finance department with special projects.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years' related experience with initial and On-going training
  • One or two year post-secondary education certificate (College, Training Institute, Trade school)
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and government regulations.
  • Global payroll experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a supported payroll environment with a provider – Ceridian or ADP is preferred.
  • High proficiency with payroll software, Word and Excel. CPP certification or global payroll certification is considered an asset.
