We're always on the lookout for exceptional talent to join our teamJob SummaryReporting to the Manager of Effective Public Health Practice, the Strategic Initiative Advisor provides expert advice, research, and coordination to support Public Health with the development and implementation of strategic initiatives. The Advisor role ensures alignment with organizational priorities, builds collaborative relationships with business partners, and translates complex issues into actionable strategies that enhance organizational effectiveness and impact. The Strategic Initiatives Advisor is also responsible for managing a group of professionals who work together to provide expert advice to Public Health senior management in continuous quality improvement for all public health programs and services.Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage departmental participation in corporate strategic initiatives, coordinating planning, implementation and reporting to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.Lead and support departmental change management initiatives, developing and implementing strategies, communication plans, and engagement approaches to support smooth transitions and adoption of new processes or systems.Build and foster strong relationships with internal teams and business partners to enhance organizational effectiveness and drive innovation.Participate in divisional, departmental and corporate work groups.Communicate and collaborate with Public Health leadership and staff to align on priorities, share updates, and provide consistent, clear messaging on strategic initiatives, organizational changes and department-wide updates as the internal communications lead.Develop business proposals, business cases, reports, briefing notes and recommendations to address opportunities identified through evaluations and quality assessments.Develop and maintain consistent project management frameworks, tools, and reporting processes to track project progress and outcomes.Oversee quality improvement initiatives that support and enhance the ability of programs in ensuring fiscally responsible, customer-focused servicesSupervise and support Continuous Improvement Specialists, setting clear priorities, providing guidance and coaching, and ensuring high quality project deliverables.Performs other duties as required.Skills & QualificationsA Bachelor or Master's degree in public health, health administration, business administration or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive relevant managerial experience in public health. Experience leading strategic initiatives or quality improvement projects within a related industry in either the public or private sector will also be considered.Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing cross-functional teamsKnowledge in change management theory and approaches.Knowledge or certification in project management.Knowledge or certification in continuous quality improvement methodologies.Highly developed communication skills (both written and verbal), exceptional analytical experience, and be able to develop and maintain strong professional relationships effectively.Excellent solution-focused problem-solving skills based on evidence-informed decisions, strategic thinking ability, exceptional organizational and time management skills, ability to inspire others and work in a fast-paced environment is required.Demonstrated political acumen and exceptional interpersonal skills to build positive, collaborative relationships with diverse partners while leading complex projects and strategic initiatives.An ability to motivate a team and develop and manage operational plans.An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Working/ Employment ConditionsWorking ConditionsTravel will be required, incumbent must provide their own transportation.Employment ConditionsCurrent (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Record Check, by the first day of employment.Important Information About Your ApplicationIn accordance with requirements in Ontario Regulation 191/11 – Integrated Accessibility Standards and the Ontario Human Rights Code, Halton Region will accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities throughout the recruitment process.
