26-008i - Payroll Clerk (Full Time)

This is moderately complex accounting/clerical work in balancing payroll data, recording adjusting entries and generating reports. Subsequent to receiving initial instructions, an employee of this class is responsible for the effective performance of relatively complex but recurrent clerical duties. Work assignments are usually self-initiated and the employee exercises independence of judgment and action within time and statutory regulation constraints. Special tasks are assigned by a supervisor in oral or written form. Work performance is periodically reviewed by a supervisor and is evaluated in terms of accuracy, completeness and conformance to established procedures and standards.
The Training Manual Requirements pre-qualifications for this position are:
- Completion of Payroll Compliance Legislation and Payroll Fundamentals courses from Canadian Payroll Association or equivalent from a recognized post secondary institute
- Two (2) years full time equivalent experience in a clerical payroll or accounting role
- 70% minimum test score in Microsoft Excel or a successful completion of accredited course in Microsoft Excel (1.5 credits).
The Class Specification requires a valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia, and is a job requirement.
