The Song Spot is Durham Region's fastest growing performing arts school We teach one-on-one lessons in piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, drums and violin, plus various group classes, in addition to running a successful youth musical theatre company. Our skilled teachers are dedicated to fostering a love for the performing arts in our students of all ages

We are currently looking for qualified instructor to teach private piano lessons on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and/or Fridays

Requirements:

  • Reliable, patient, open-minded, and enjoy working with children;
  • Access to reliable transportation;
  • Able to work independently with limited to no supervision;
  • Able to teach technique and repertoire in a fun, engaging manner;
  • The ideal candidate will have a years long history of learning piano;
  • Qualified to teach beginner to intermediate piano;
  • Prior teaching experience is an asset, but not an absolute requirement;
  • RCM certifications are an asset, but not an absolute requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Create personalized lesson plans for each student;
  • Prepare students for potential performance opportunities;
  • Guide students through developmental milestones (i.e. RCM exams, competitions, auditions, etc.);
  • Help students develop the discipline and commitment required for success;
  • Encourage at-home practice between lessons;
  • Keep parents informed via notes and/or brief chats at the end of each lesson; and
  • Make learning just as fun as making music itself.
