POSITION SUMMARY

The Workday Financials & Planning Systems Lead is the subject-matter expert for Workday Financials (FIN) modules, Workday Accounting Center, and Workday Adaptive Planning, the Bank's planning and budgeting solution.
This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, configuring, optimizing, and supporting the roadmap for Workday's finance capabilities. The Lead ensures that the system supports critical financial processes, integrations, and reporting requirements. Working closely with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders, the Workday Financials & Planning Systems Lead champions best practices, supports continuous improvement, assists with system enhancements, manages release cycles, and helps users maximize the value of Workday FIN, Accounting Center, and Adaptive Planning.

MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on day-to-day support for Workday FIN, Accounting Center, and Adaptive Planning, responding to inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and escalating as necessary.

  • Maintain and administer configurations within Workday FIN modules (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Banking & Settlement, Business Assets).

  • Maintain Workday Accounting Center, including accounting rules, data transformation logic, ledger/sub-ledger mapping, error handling, and data validation.

  • Support Adaptive Planning models, including user requests, troubleshooting configuration issues, and ensuring system performance.

  • Assist with implementing system enhancements and continuous improvements across Workday FIN, Accounting Center, and Adaptive Planning.

  • Recommend process and system optimizations, including leveraging AI or automation technologies to enhance workflows, reporting, and overall efficiency.

  • Plan, test, and deploy Workday bi-annual releases, ensuring minimal disruption to business processes.

  • Validate data loads and integrations from Workday FIN and Accounting Center/Prism into Adaptive Planning.

  • Manage, monitor, and support integrations between Workday FIN and other systems (e.g., Banking, Adaptive Planning, Accounting Center).

  • Collaborate with finance stakeholders to capture requirements, map business processes, and translate them into system configurations or enhancements.

  • Advise Finance and IT leadership on system improvements, best practices, and technology solutions to support organizational goals.

  • Conduct system testing (unit, regression, release), validate new functionality, and assess impacts of Workday semi-annual updates/releases.

  • Build, maintain, and optimize financial reports, dashboards, and analytics for stakeholders using Workday reporting tools.

  • Ensure data integrity, system security (roles/groups/domains), compliance with accounting standards, and adherence to internal control requirements.

  • Support regulatory compliance and audit readiness, including segregation of duties, access controls, and data governance policies.

  • Maintain detailed technical and process documentation to support internal audit, IT change management, and knowledge transfer.

  • Follow IT change management practices when implementing system changes, ensuring proper approvals, testing, and version control.

  • Monitor system performance, usage, and user adoption, and provide recommendations to improve efficiency, accuracy, and satisfaction.

  • Develop user documentation, training materials, and deliver sessions/workshops to support adoption of Workday FIN features.

  • Stay current with emerging Workday functionality, industry trends, and best practices, providing recommendations for leveraging new capabilities.

  • Work with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure Workday FIN and Planning solutions meet enterprise-wide needs.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

  • 2–5+ years of experience supporting or implementing financial systems (ERP), ideally Workday Financials.

  • Strong understanding of accounting and finance operations, including GL, AP, Business Assets, and Banking.

  • Experience collaborating with both technical teams and business users.

Technical / Functional Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with Workday FIN (or equivalent), including configuration, business processes, security model, and data integration.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into system solutions.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and training skills; able to interact effectively with finance and IT audiences.

  • Attention to detail, strong documentation skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of internal controls, data governance, audit processes, and IT change management is a plus.

  • Workday Financials or related module certification and familiarity with Workday integration tools (EIB, Studio, REST/SOAP interfaces) is an asset.
