Position Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full time Buyer to join our Purchasing team for a 6-month contract

Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, Supply Chain, the Buyer is responsible for processing purchase orders in SickKids' PeopleSoft ERP system. The successful candidate will also interact closely with internal clients and vendor partners, ensuring the effective ordering of goods and services, and the timely completion of the Procure-to-Pay process.

Here's What You'll Get To Do

  • Utilizing the Peoplesoft procurement system to process purchase orders for required information indicated by requestors, including Stores inventory and Stockless replenishment program
  • Review purchase orders to ensure compliance to hospital policy and Provincial directives
  • Monitor dispatch of purchase orders to ensure effective release/dispatch to vendor and
  • Work with internal and external partners to resolve any issues (IT, GHX, etc.)
  • Interface with end users to ensure effective ordering of supplies
  • Proactively monitor and expedite backorders and work with Supply Chain team and end users to identify and order appropriate substitutions
  • Review and resolve invoice match exceptions in cooperation with accounts payable and receiving
  • Maintain effective relationships with Supply Chain team, vendors and internal clients, providing timely and clear communication
  • Backup other buyers as required and work collaboratively with procurement team to maintain adequate departmental coverage and ensure service level commitments are met
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process optimization as appropriate

Here's What You'll Need

  • College Diploma in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of hands-on experience in a Healthcare Procurement role is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working in a Healthcare procurement environment with inventory experience is strongly preferred
  • Advanced MS Office skills including Excel
  • Strong Proficiency in an ERP Procurement module - PeopleSoft strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to proactively identify risks and opportunities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to find innovative solutions
  • Ability to function in a high demand, fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Highly motivated, customer focused team player
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • An eye for detail and strong time management skills
  • Self-starter, works well without constant supervision and able to perform well under pressure
