With an emphasis on Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and mobility/transportation planning, the Intermediate Planner is responsible for participating in Town initiated land use planning studies such as Official Plan Reviews, Secondary Plans, CPPS by-law reviews, and other land use planning studies, as well as:
- Processing and evaluating applications for all types of land use including Official Plan amendments, zoning by-law amendments, draft plans of subdivision and condominium, minor variances and consents, Community Planning Permitting System (CPPS) and other related applications.
- Reviewing and leading a range of development applications including transit-oriented development (TOD) and prepares accompanying staff reports and recommendations to Council.
- Assisting in the preparation for Public Meetings, Council meetings and Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) matters; leading various public and stakeholder consultation processes.
- Preparing terms of reference and briefs consultants on special planning studies as required; reviewing and evaluating proposals.
- Providing planning comments on building permits, site plans, Committee of Adjustment applications, Ministry applications, development applications, Community Planning Permitting review (CPPS), and completing Site Visits as required.
Job Requirements
The preferred candidate holds:
- A University Degree in Planning or related field.
- A minimum of 4-6 years of progressive experience in a planning or land use planning environment.
- Full membership of the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
- Valid Class 'G' Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business and availability to attend evening meetings or other events, if necessary.
