Job Summary

Overseeing the daily operation of the fitness center (Assiniboine Athletic Club) and attached aquatic facilities including performing resistance training instruction with club members and liaising with numerous foreign visitors from the attached hotel (the Fort Garry Hotel).

Main Responsibilities

Reception & Administration

  • Facility reception and tours
  • Computer file maintenance
  • Liaise with hotel staff and receive and direct hotel guest
  • Liaise with independent personal trainers and their clients

Sales & Customer Service

  • Membership Sales
  • Resistance training instruction
  • Drink, supplement, and clothing sales
  • Receive and direct physiotherapy and massage patients

Maintenance & Safety

  • Equipment and facility maintenance
  • Pool area maintenance and water chemical testing including the ordering and receiving of pool chemicals and inventory items
  • Respond to emergency situations and complete and file incident reports

Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Enrollment in a Kinesiology program is considered to be an asset.

  • First Aid & CPR Certification required

  • Experience:

  • 1 year of sales experience in a fitness setting OR 2-3 years of retail sales experience OR 2-3 years of experience in the hospitality/food service industry.

  • Excellent oral and written English communication mandatory, additional language skill preferred.

  • Clear Criminal Records Check (Vulnerable Sector Check) required

  • Systems/Programs: Basic computer and typing skills preferred
