POSITION OVERVIEW
As a key member of the leadership team, the Program Manager oversees the successful operation of activities and programming at the Women's Centre of Calgary. Unique in its structure, the Centre provides a safe drop-in space as well as formal programming. This position supports staff in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment where women and girls can gather. This position assures that the programming not only meets its established outputs and outcomes but allows for the power and creativity that emerges when women and girls come together. The Program Manager will provide supervision and direction to their direct reports as well as participate in their own ongoing development.
JOB DUTIES
- Plan and administer budgets for programs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with other organizations to meet organization and community needs.
- Ensure the delivery of programming is fulfilling or exceeding established program expectations.
- Ensure optimal deployment of resources to achieve program goals and fulfil contractual obligations.
- Role model ethical and professional behavior in the workplace.
- Supervise, empower, and coach direct reports.
- Confidently represent the organization to external parties; helping others to understand the importance of supporting women and girls.
- Review and analyze community needs to determine program directions and goals.
- Create a positive work environment and encourage other team members to do the same.
- Build effective relationships with those who access the Centre, volunteers and supporters of the Centre.
- Contribute towards a culture of philanthropy.
- Champion psychological safety in the workplace.
- Participate in activities related to equity, diversity, and inclusion as well as Truth and Reconciliation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in social work or a related area.
- Registered with respective professional association.
- 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong command of the social issues facing women and girls.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Basic financial acumen.
- Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The Women's Centre is a storefront community center operating in an open environment. This role will require attendance and participation in off-site meetings and events in the community. This position requires evening and weekend work.
