We are seeking part-time Baristas (minimum of 20-24 hours per week) to help with our new and growing venture.

This front of house role will be based out of our new location at 692 St. Anne's Road. The role will start at 6:45am. Applicants must be available to work a minimum of 20-24 hours (up to 3-days per week) between Tuesday-Saturday. Additional working days and hours may be available.

The part-time barista role will be responsible for preparing and serving hot and cold beverages, such as our premium, custom-blended espresso and other espresso-based beverages like lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, and much more. The role will also provide menu recommendations and answer customer questions about menu items and ingredients, in addition to serving, and accurately processing payments using a point-of-sale (POS) system. The position requires knowledge and experience of expresso-based recipes, use of equipment, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while providing high quality customer care and creating a welcoming atmosphere to support our vision. The role will work closely with a small team of baristas and a kitchen team consisting of bakers and cooks.

Responsibilities:

• Warmly greet and welcome customers, take orders, and accurately process payments using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Provide menu recommendations and answer customer questions about menu items and ingredients, in addition to serving orders.
• Prepare and serve a variety of espresso based hot and cold beverages according to company recipes and quality standards.
• Operate and maintain coffee and expresso equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and blenders.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and customer seating area by regularly cleaning countertops, equipment, and floors.
• Set up and stock the workstation with necessary ingredients, tools, and supplies before and during shifts.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and properly handling and storing food.
• Monitor inventory levels, perform checks, complete storage logs, and report any shortages to management.
• Work effectively with other baristas, kitchen staff, and management, especially during high-pressure service periods, to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
• Adopt The Forge philosophy of excellent customer service and a friendly attitude at all times.

Qualifications:

• Barista experience in roles consisting of espresso-based beverages and equipment.
• Understanding of different coffee and expresso blends, brewing methods, and drink preparation.
• Possess a friendly, polite, and engaging personality with a commitment to customer care and satisfaction.
• Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills to manage multiple orders simultaneously during peak hours.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, and lift up to 35 lbs.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices including valid Canadian food handler's certificate.
• Reliable and punctual for early morning start times.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work consistently and efficiently as part of a team.
