About the position: As a Health Promoter, you will be an integral member of our multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to enhancing community engagement and public health awareness. Your responsibilities will include planning, coordinating, and participating in population-based health promotion activities in order to effectively meet Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) including policy development, community development, coalition building, health information resources development, etc. Acting as a liaison with community partners, you will initiate and deliver impactful activities such as presentations, workshops, and promotional materials in various community programs and services.
In addition, you will plan and execute ongoing communications campaigns across different program areas within GEPH and assist in coordinating community initiatives. Collaboration with Health Unit staff, community agencies, and partners is essential. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in public health and community well-being.

Qualifications and Competencies:
- Successfully completed post-secondary school with a bachelor's degree in health promotion, health sciences, or a related discipline.
- Minimum three years of practical experience in health promotion.
- Knowledge and experience in community engagement strategies (individuals, groups, and populations) community development and partnerships.
- Ability to support programs to emphasize population health, the promotion of health, advocacy and community engagement to meet local needs and the Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS).
- Assists in the gathering of information and data required to facilitate and implement program evaluations
- Demonstrated expertise regarding determinants of health and health equity; public health; knowledge translation; change management
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and independently as an integral team member.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills with the ability to facilitate meetings; present and exchange information both internally and externally.
- Possess proven organizational, project management and time management skills.
- Ability to work with priority populations using tact, sensitivity, non-judgmental and inclusive service to all clients.
- As this role requires the individual to attend events and programs outside of normal business hours, the position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends on a semi-regular basis.
- Computer skills with the ability to use software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Effective research skills and experience in literature review are considered an asset.
- A valid Ontario driver's license and use of a reliable vehicle.
- Required to provide proof of immunization records including the full series of COVID-19 vaccination.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly wage range: $ $41.13/hr
- Benefits: Employee and Family Assistance Program available. Opportunity to opt into the OMERS pension plan.
Terms of Employment:
70 hours in a two-week period. Employment conditions are in accordance with the ONA Allied Collective Agreement and Grand Erie Public Health policies and procedures.
