Business Development Manager – Heavy Equipment Repair

Location: Nisku, Alberta

Reports To: Director of Operations / General Manager

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Position Summary

  • The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for driving revenue growth by developing new business opportunities, expanding existing customer relationships, and identifying strategic partnerships within the heavy equipment repair and maintenance sector. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical service operations, customer needs, and market trends affecting equipment performance and lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Growth & Sales:

Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in target markets (construction, mining, infrastructure, agriculture, logistics, etc.).

Develop and maintain strong relationships with equipment owners, fleet managers, OEM dealers, and contractors.

Prepare and present tailored proposals, service agreements, and quotes.

Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.

  • Market Strategy & Analysis:

Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitor activity, and customer needs.

Develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand market share.

Provide feedback to management regarding pricing, service offerings, and potential growth areas.

  • Account Management:

Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.

Collaborate with service and operations teams to ensure timely project delivery and quality outcomes.

Monitor client accounts to identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities (e.g., preventative maintenance contracts, rebuild programs, field service).

  • Partnership & Brand Development:

Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.

Build partnerships with suppliers, OEMs, and other service providers to enhance business opportunities.

Contribute to marketing efforts, including campaigns, promotions, and customer outreach.

  • Qualifications

Required:

Strong knowledge of heavy equipment systems, maintenance cycles, and repair processes.

5+ years experiencing working in the heavy civil and mining industries.

3+ years of sales or business development experience in heavy equipment, industrial services, or a related industry.

Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Proficiency Microsoft Office Programs.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience) considered an asset.

An individual that has had hands on experiencing working as a Heavy Equipment Technician is considered an asset.

Experience in equipment dealership, fleet maintenance, or OEM service environments.

Established network within construction, mining, or agriculture sectors.

Technical background or mechanical aptitude related to heavy machinery.
