Mechanical Designer

Clean Works is seeking an engaging and driven Mechanical Designer to join our small, expanding company on the ground floor. Reporting directly to the Manager, Mechanical Design the Mechanical Designer will be responsible for assisting in the full lifecycle of complex customer projects. This position requires a quick learner with strong communications skills. Must be comfortable with travel (up to 20%) across North America and presenting a professional demeanor in front of high-level decision makers. Successful candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills, and appropriately prioritizing those tasks' completion.

Position Description:

  • Demonstrated design experience with Pneumatic/electro-mechanical systems, sheet metal, welding/fabrication processes and GD&T.
  • Design responsibilities include design validation, machine dynamics, fabrication design, power transmission component selection, preparation of drawing packages, BOM creation and project documentation.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks; experience with FEA desirable.
  • Creative and analytical thinker.
  • Build and test prototype/production parts as per product need.
  • Results oriented with proven experience in design-for-manufacturability.
  • Interpersonal and communication strengths, able to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Travel up to 10% in North America

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technologist. (CET or B.Eng.)
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) considered an asset but not required.
  • Minimum 6+ (required) years of relevant experience in designing custom conveyor, and custom equipment.
  • Understanding of FDA design standards (asset)
  • Food grade systems design experience (asset)
  • Proficient with SolidWorks
  • Proficient with Microsoft office

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
