He kupu mō mātou | About us

Servicing the Bay of Plenty, our Edgecumbe site has been manufacturing dairy products since 1923. The site produces pastry sheet butter, prepared edible fats, anhydrous milk fat, casein & caseinates, whey protein concentrate, milk minerals and probiotics. Edgecumbe is the only site in NZ that produces calcium Caseinate.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Opportunity

We have a rare opportunity to join our team in a fixed-term capacity as an Energy Centre Operator, working with and operating a range of assets including automated gas fired boilers, water treatment plant, demineralised water, compressed air, chilled water and other utilities.

You'll play an active role within a team who are paving the way in the energy industry with innovative, sustainable solutions.

In sole charge of the utilities plant, reporting to our utilities manager your key responsibilities include:

  • Operating our energy centre equipment to meet KPI targets and consent requirements
  • Ensuring utilities operate to optimum safety, efficiency and reliability at all times
  • Consistently monitoring our assets, investigating & reporting maintenance requirements & participating in continuous improvement activities
  • Maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety.

Please note: This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity on a rostered shift of two days on, one night shift followed by three days off.

Mōu | About You

We are looking for an individual who is mechanically/electrically minded who is responsive, self-driven and has a positive attitude to their work.

You will work autonomously in this role, so you'll be a confident problem solver and have strong planning and organisational skills.

With exposure to boiler operations and site utilities, you'll have hands-on experience in operating plant services as well as the ability to help manage maintenance in your dedicated areas.

Other key skills include:

  • National Certificate in Enchem Level 4 or equivalent (Marine Class 3) is preferred but we will also consider an Enchem Level 3 qualification
  • Trade or industrial background and/or experience in utilities plants is advantageous.
  • Experience with automated computer control systems (HMI's) is essential
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and continuous improvement skills.
