This employee will play a key part in the resort’s Paddling Centre: delivering exceptional customer service, preparing customers for a safe and enjoyable paddling experience - including helping guests to familiarize themselves with paddling, the necessary equipment, and the local conditions. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This physical role requires a love for working outdoors. During slower periods of activity at the paddling centre, this role will be assigned tasks in other areas of resort operations including, but not limited to, landscaping, porterage, and property maintenance tasks.

**Employment Type**: Full-Time/Part-Time Seasonal; Possibility to transition to other positions to accommodate full-time year-round employment
**Wage range**:$18 - $20; Subsidized staff accommodations available
**Start Date**:Availability May to September (April and October preferred) for full-time work, with possibility of transitioning to other roles during off-seasons to maintain full-time work.

The scope of responsibilities for this role includes:

- **Customer Service**:Responsible for ensuring an exceptional paddling experience for all guests. Assist customers with booking rentals using our reservation system. Greet and assist customers in the paddle centre, providing boat and route recommendations and answering inquiries. Enforce safety protocols and ensure customers are briefed on proper equipment use and paddling practices.
- **Paddling Centre Operations**: Oversee and assist with the fitting of customers into kayaks, ensuring proper technique and adherence to safety protocols. Coordinate gear distribution, including life jackets, paddles, and additional equipment.
- **Paddling Safety**:Enforce and promote safety standards for customers, including ensuring rental agreements and liability waivers are completed and guests are equipped with appropriate safety equipment and appropriate attire. Ensure customers are briefed on proper equipment use and paddling practices. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of weather conditions and other factors that may impact customer safety on the water. Keep detailed records of water rescue incidents.
- **Beach Set-Up & Boat Movement**: Handle opening and closing procedures, including the set-up of equipment and moving boats. Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure boats and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
- **Scheduling Support**: Anticipate busy times and coordinate with the Manager to ensure sufficient staffing and prepare equipment appropriately.
- **Boat & Equipment Care**: Ensure tracking and management of the overall condition of the kayak and paddleboard fleet. Ensure that boats and equipment are kept clean, well-maintained, and stored properly. Identify and report any equipment damage, ensuring that repairs are made promptly.
- **Additional Responsibilities**: As a result of seasonal conditions, and slow periods, this role will also perform various basic tasks as assigned, which will include landscaping, porterage, assisting with event set up and take down, miscellaneous maintenance tasks, and other duties.

**Qualifications**:

- **Availability**:This is a seasonal position requiring flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
- **Customer Service Experience**:Previous experience in customer service, especially in the outdoor, tourism, or recreation industries.
- **Communication Skills**:Strong verbal and written communication skills. Confident in speaking and engaging with customers and team members.
- **Physical Strength & Endurance**:Comfortable working outdoors for 7+ hours a day, in all seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall). Must be able to stand for extended periods and be capable of lifting over 80 lbs and carrying up to 50 lbs in each hand multiple times per day, extended periods of physical activity. Physical work is required, including bending, lifting, and transporting boats.
- **Paddling Knowledge**:Preference for those with: Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Level 1 certification, Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC), and/or Lifeguard, CPR or a First Aid certification. Must have a general comfort around water.
