Advocate Printing & Publishing is searching for an experienced, safety focused Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our Pictou, NS Maintenance Team. This role reports directly to our Manager of Maintenance and Print Technology, and will be responsible for the installation, testing, operating, and maintaining of electromechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance and participate in plant equipment diagnosis, repairs, part replacement, new installations, etc.
  • Respond to emergencies; investigate equipment failures ensuring timely completion of repairs.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance and complete work orders, ensuring they are accomplished in a timely fashion.
  • Support the development and implementation of a sustainable and practical preventative maintenance program.
  • Support company policies, safety and quality regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Support other team members and complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Electro-Mechanical Technician Diploma or relevant experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and technical drawings
  • PLC, VFD, DC motor control experience an asset
  • Excellence in troubleshooting and technical problem solving with the ability to identify root cause over symptom
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to work independently to achieve project goals
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with Microsoft and other related software
  • Customer focused with and understanding of how to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong knowledge and practice of safe work behaviors
  • Able to work flexible hours and overtime as required to changes in demand and accommodate equipment down times
