The Position
Under the general supervision of the Education Manager, the Case Manager (Elementary Age Education Support Worker) will support shíshálh students and families during the foundational years of learning — Kindergarten through Grade 4 and/or assigned grades. This role focuses on education-based support, early intervention, and family engagement, helping children build strong academic, social, and emotional foundations.
Working as part of the Education Team, this position collaborates closely with families, schools, Community Member Services, and the Culture Division to ensure students receive coordinated, culturally grounded, and responsive educational support.
The Candidate:- Support students with school routines, attendance, transitions, and learning needs.
- Work directly with families to help them understand school expectations, schedules, and available supports.
- Assist parents with school portals, report cards, teacher meetings, and school communications.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the K–12 Education Team and the Education Manager.
- Act as a liaison between families and schools, including teachers, principals, and learning support teams.
- Support the development, understanding, and follow-up of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Work with the K–12 team to coordinate referrals for learning assessments, including Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and psycho-educational assessments.
- Work closely with the Manager to refer students for appropriate health or wellness interventions.
- Support referrals to tutoring and academic support programs.
- Participate in planning and delivery of education-related programs with the Culture Division, as approved by the Education Manager, including land-based learning initiatives.
- Maintain accurate, confidential student records and case notes.
- Use and maintain a working knowledge of ARMS (case management system).
- Participate and help plan graduation ceremonies, career and post-secondary fairs.
- Perform all other tasks within the scope of the position.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
- Diploma or degree in Education (Bachelor of Education or equivalent).
- Experience working with children in kindergarten to Grade 4 and higher.
- Experience supporting students and families within school or education systems.
- Experience working with Indigenous children, families, or communities.
- Experience in land-based learning or culturally grounded educational programming.
- Degree or coursework in Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Education, or related fields.
- Background working with children with neurodivergent challenges and unique learning pathways.
- Knowledge of IEPs and inclusive education practices.
- Experience with SLP and psycho-educational referral processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and use of a reliable vehicle. An acceptable Criminal Record Check.
