What is the Opportunity?
We are looking for an Associate to join our Investment Operations team who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys tackling complex challenges. You will have the opportunity to work with a world class team and learn from and work with global leaders and mentors. In this position, you will learn a breadth of Investment Operations skills and processes, along with growth opportunity to take on new responsibilities, projects, and cultivate a career in the Investment Operations team. What will you do?
- Process corporate actions and perform company research to conduct analysis (products include but not limited to stocks, bonds, swaps, options, futures, etc.)
- Ensure trade affirmation and settlement targets on swap derivative products are met and resolve settlement issues with traders, counterparties, and custodians in a timely manner
- Perform daily cash and position reconciliations with prime brokers and fund administrator
- Maintain and security set up records and update valuation as the need arises
- Interact with Investment team, execution brokers, and prime brokers throughout the trade life cycle
- Ensure timely completion of tasks and proactively follow up on pending matters
- Assist in completing documentation relating to new accounts, service provider agreements, private placements, etc.
- Maintain working knowledge of Polar's trading system, trading counterparties, approved markets, and security types, clearing counterparties, which will include a method for approving and monitoring such counterparties
- Build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external parties
- Recommend solutions that lead to automation and process enhancement and collaborate with Dev Support to implement
- Collect, organize and compiling accounting data for reporting purposes
- Other duties and ad hoc project as needed
Who are you?
- University undergraduate degree
- Desire and a keen interest to work in the financial industry
- Experience in a fast-paced and high-volume environment, with proven ability to work with competing priorities
- Excellent independent problem solver and ability to self-motivate to find efficient and thoughtful solutions
- Highly motivated, eager to learn new tasks and embrace responsibility
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, team player, ability to multi-task and prioritize, analytical skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with SQL and the ability to build basic queries to extract data for reporting and analysis is an asset

Compensation
: Polar's total compensation package includes base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. In accordance with Ontario's Employment Standards Act, 2000, the estimated base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000. The actual base salary pay will depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, the individual's experience level, the qualifications they bring to the role, business needs, and market demands.
