Summary of the role
We are currently seeking a Home Interviewer to assist Dr. Vanessa Taler and the Bruyère Health Research Institute (Bruyère Health RI).
Dr. Taler is a Principal Investigator for the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA). The CLSA is a 20-year national study focused on understanding the effects of aging on physical, psychological, and cognitive health. CLSA participants provide follow-up data every 3 years, over two sessions. The first session takes place in the homes of our participants.
Bruyère Health RI, in conjunction with the CLSA, is seeking applicants motivated to contribute to research aimed at improving the lives of older adults. The successful candidate will support the objectives of the CLSA by going into participants' homes to collect data pertaining to a range of factors that influence and are influenced by the aging process.
Main duties and responsibilities
Working directly with the CLSA Coordinator, the successful applicant will be expected to:
- Visit participants in their homes to collect data using a CLSA-provided laptop
- Availability for a minimum of 6 interviews per week is required
- Ensure high data quality and accurate data recording
- Maintain rapport with team members by responding to emails, joining team meetings, etc.
- Review and provide appropriate notes in our participant management software
- Reschedule interviews if cancelling within 24 hours of the appointment time
- Report any issues to the CLSA Coordinator
- Additional duties may be added as the projects progress
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in health sciences, psychology, or a related field
- Experience interacting with members of the public
- Access to a car and willing to travel within the Ottawa region, mostly central and west-end (Kanata)
- Access to a private space at home and willing to use personal phone for occasional calls
- Experience in a health profession, social work, or data collection (an asset)
- Experience working with older adults (an asset)
- Fluent in French and English (an asset)
