CNC Programmer

• Independently program 3, 4 and 5-axis milling and turning CNC machining centers using Mastercam;
• Prior to full implementation, put machinery through test runs to ensure programming is working effectively. Note discrepancies between blueprint specifications and test products as they arise and provide resolution through program adjustment;
• Troubleshoot and diagnose common CNC problems, consulting with manufacturer as necessary;
• Closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications;
• Develop sequences, tooling arrangements and settings, speeds and feeds in accordance with materials to be machined, type of machine and capacities;
• Determine machining operations, the sequence in which machining operations must be carried out, and the time required to finish the job to efficiently manufacture the product; Ability to read and interpret blueprints of products to be produced to determine programming needs;
• Ensure all CNC programming written is in accordance with production blueprints and quality standards;
• Perform new set-ups and editing on a variety of Breton and Haas CNC machining centers;
• Provide assistance to CNC operators in setting up new programs;
• Assist in the design of tooling and fixtures as necessary to support machining requirements;
• Assist with the analysis of processes with the objective of reducing manufacturing costs without sacrificing product quality and reliability;
• Communicate with supervisors, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues;
• Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas;
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks including fluid and filter checks;
• Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams to identify areas of inefficiency;
• Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with provincial and federal law, the Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies and Safety and Environmental Regulations;

Qualifications:

• Proven experience programming 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining centers using Mastercam.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and tooling.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Hands-on experience with Breton and Haas CNC machines preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
