Purpose of the role:
The Engineering Technician role is an important link between design and construction. This is an opportunity to join our company, and build a long-term career with Dr. Sauer & Partners.
The Engineering Technician helps bridge design and construction by producing high-quality drawings, models, and visualizations. Most tasks involve AutoCAD drafting for detailed design drawings, with opportunities to develop 3D and 4D visualizations that communicate concepts and illustrate our engineering solutions.
Responsibilities and duties:
The principal duties are:
- Prepare accurate drawings and models in AutoCAD and Revit for design and construction within agreed timelines
- Support engineers in preparing plans, sections, and details for underground and structural works.
- Develop visualizations and animations to illustrate design intent and sequencing.
- Ensure drawings follow relevant CAD and BIM standards.
- Review and update drawings based on feedback.
- Explore new tools and methods to improve visualization and design communication.
- Assess resource requirements at each stage of the project, and communicate any potential conflicts
- Attend project progress meetings and report progress versus timelines.
- Deliver within time, budget and quality expectations.
Qualifications and Experience required:
- Diploma or Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering Technology.
- 1–5 years of relevant drafting or visualization experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit, ideally demonstrated by a portfolio of work.
- Interest in a long-term career in underground engineering, with a goal to continue learning and pursue further education
- Eligible to work in Canada. Candidates without a valid work permit will not be considered.
