Job Overview

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a keen understanding of food safety standards. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in creating delicious meals that meet our high standards of quality and presentation. This position requires a commitment to excellence in the kitchen and the ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menus.
  • Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
  • Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, slicing, and cooking ingredients.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items.
  • Monitor food inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
  • Help train new kitchen staff on food handling procedures and safety practices.
  • Participate in menu planning and development, providing input based on seasonal ingredients, including contributing ideas for specials and new dishes.
  • Ensure portion control and minimize waste.
  • Handle guest allergy and dietary requests with care and precision.

Skills

  • 1-3 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a fast-paced or upscale dining environment.
  • Red Seal certification or culinary diploma is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and food presentation.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in the food industry.
  • Experience working in a restaurant or commercial kitchen setting is preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail in meal presentation and adherence to recipes.
  • Proficient in food handling practices to ensure quality and safety.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
