Astro Hill is seeking a full-time Operations Manager based in Iqaluit, NU.

Reporting directly to the Director of Property Management, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing building operations, maintenance, and facilities teams across Astro Hill's residential and commercial properties. The position manages approximately 16 employees, including 3 direct reports, ensuring efficient day-to-day performance, safety, and quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily building operations, maintenance, and repair activities across multiple properties
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of trades and maintenance staff
  • Conduct regular property and mechanical system inspections to identify issues and implement proactive solutions
  • Manage boiler, glycol heating, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules, service requests, and preventative maintenance programs
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
  • Support capital projects and renovations by coordinating contractors and suppliers
  • Monitor budgets, inventory, and resource allocation
  • Liaise with tenants and other departments to resolve operational concerns promptly
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies

About You

  • Class 3 Power Engineering Certificate or Journeyperson HVAC Certificate
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in property, building, or facilities operations
  • Strong technical knowledge of boiler plants, plumbing, and glycol-heated systems
  • Proven ability to manage maintenance operations and coordinate projects
  • Experience with budgets, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
