Richelieu Hardware is looking for a
International Senior Buyer / Commodity Panels
. The position can be in either
Surrey, BC
or
Calgary, AB
.

More specifically, the main responsibilities of the position are to
:

  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities in Richelieu's product offering.
  • Use data from past and current purchases to guide future sourcing decisions and minimize risk.
  • Ensure the successful introduction of new products, supported by all required marketing tools, data sheets, and training materials.
  • Work closely with Sales Managers to identify customers and set sales objectives by SKU and by Sales Representative, within established timelines, to evaluate individual performance.
  • Implement exit strategies for discontinued or replaced products, minimizing losses in devalued dollars and optimizing space allocation.
  • Perform detailed cost analyses to ensure negotiations are aligned with targeted cost structures.
  • Negotiate purchasing agreements with suppliers to secure the highest quality goods at the most competitive prices.
  • Develop and maintain strategic plans that support Richelieu's long-term operational objectives.
  • Monitor Richelieu's inventory levels to prevent stockouts across all locations and product lines under responsibility.
  • Establish direct communication with Sales teams to address specific customer demands.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills, fostering long-term supplier and internal relationships.
  • Manage purchasing timelines effectively to meet deadlines and sustain customer loyalty through operational excellence.

Requirements :

  • Demonstrated involvement in strategic sourcing within commodity panels
  • Proven experience in international procurement and supply chain management.
  • Recognized expertise as a Commodity Panel Strategic Buyer
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills with the ability to leverage market intelligence.
  • Minimum 15–20 years of experience in the industrial wood or panel industry, ideally within Western Canada or international markets.
  • Recognized expertise in supplier development and vendor performance management.
  • Established network of vendor relationships and a solid reputation for integrity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
