Job Description:
CEFA Crestwood Junior Kindergarten's Child Support Assistant (Part-time) provides individualized care and support to children requiring extra assistance in a classroom setting, starting on December 1st, 2025. Child Support Assistants play a crucial role in helping children with specific needs to participate fully in regular programming while ensuring their safety, emotional well-being, and overall development.
Duties and Responsibilities
· · Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans or care plans for children requiring extra support;
. Support child(ren) requiring extra support into regular programming when possible.
. Identify the abilities, interests and needs of children and recommend individualized and group activities based on these.
· Monitor the emotion and behavior of the child require extra support throughout the day, ensuring their safety and others at all times.
· Assist classroom teacher to create an indoor and outdoor environment that allows for accessibility to and safety of children requiring extra support.
· Ensure activities accommodate and promote inclusion in all aspects of the program.
· Conduct activities with children on an individual and group basis.
· Record information daily in the communication book and report concerns to the classroom team
· Participate in meetings with families when required
· Assist children with toileting when required
· Administer medications as required in accordance with established policy
· Attend monthly meetings or class meetings to assess and discuss program plans and goals
· Responsible to fill out accident report forms
· Other related duties as assigned and may vary according to facility
Required Qualifications
· A valid BC ECE or ECEA licence with minimum of one year experience working with children under age 5
· Criminal Record Information Check
· Emergency Child Care First Aid or Standard First Aid including CPR B or higher
· Immunization records
Desired Qualifications
· Training/courses in behavioral/developmental challenges, autism spectrum, special needs therapies
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday- 4 hours a day (9:30am -1:30pm)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 22.5 per week
