Position Overview

The Director of Emerging Markets is a senior, results-driven role responsible for B2C and B2B sales and emerging market development in Canada.

The Director will lead sales efforts online, while working closely with other Berlitz Canada departments to ensure adherence to the client success journey.

This role operates remotely, emphasizing new business acquisition, relationship management, and market growth.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new sales opportunities, with a primary focus on emerging markets
  • Present Berlitz's language, intercultural, and business training solutions to clients
  • Create tailored proposals and manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing
  • Consistently meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets
  • Travel to client offices as required to support sales and relationship-building activities
  • Handle, nurture, and close B2C inquiries

Market & Customer Management

  • Oversee customer acquisition and retention activities
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction from onboarding through program renewal
  • Collaborate with other Berlitz Canada departments to ensure adherence to client success journey.
  • Promote awareness of the Berlitz brand within assigned markets and local business communities
  • Support long-term customer relationships and repeat business

Performance & Operational Oversight

  • Contribute to the achievement of corporate and regional performance objectives
  • Monitor key performance indicators and recommend action plans to enhance results
  • Ensure adherence to Berlitz policies, procedures, and minimum standards
  • Maintain accurate operational and sales reporting
  • Responsible for financial indicators and management of profit and loss statements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development and management (required)
  • Willingness and ability to travel for client meetings (required)
  • University degree or equivalent professional experience (required)
  • Strong sales acumen with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding targets (required)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills (required)
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple markets (required)
  • Previous experience in education, training, or language services (preferred)
  • French proficiency (preferred)
